“The Flame”

by Charlotte Reeves Bowman

You leave a
Stardust trail
like a slug leaves slime…
but unlike a slug
yours shines,
mesmerizing and tempting
the Lover of iridescent things…..
seducing the dead into rising
the lost into finding
the broken into an uprising….
but like the slug….
your trail fades-
leaving the dead – buried
the lost – wandering
and the broken – reduced to ashes
without ever enjoying the Flame.
